Prayer
Dear God, help us understand the beauty of giving and receiving love. Amen.
Love is like a dance. We give love, and we receive love. But sometimes, we can forget the balance. How can we give freely and also welcome love from others?
Giving love makes us feel good. When we help others, we brighten their day. But if we only give and never let others love us back, we can feel empty. On the other hand, receiving love can be hard. We may feel unworthy or shy.
The Bible teaches us about this balance. In Acts 20:35, it says, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." This reminds us that giving is important. Yet, to truly thrive, we must also accept love.
One practical way to explore this balance is through a simple activity. Spend a day noticing how you give and receive love. Maybe you help a friend or smile at a stranger. Then, allow someone to help you in return, even if it feels uncomfortable.
For example, imagine you bake cookies for your neighbor. They appreciate your kindness. Later, they bring you flowers. This is the dance of duality. You both give and receive, creating a beautiful connection.
Finding balance in love enriches our lives. It builds strong relationships and brings joy. Let’s embrace both giving and receiving.
This week, try to give love and let others love you back. Notice how it feels.
Closing Prayer
Thank you, God, for the gift of love. Help us to share and accept it freely. Amen.
